What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine is an innovative field of medicine that involves the process of developing methods to regrow, repair or replace damaged human cells, genes, tissues or organs.
The damage can be from illness, disease or even aging. The aim of regenerative medicine is to restore healthy function back to the human body.

How Does It Work?
At CELLAAX , we focus on 3 core areas of therapy within the area of Regenerative Medicine. They are:
1. Stem Cell Therapy
2. Cell-based Immunotherapy
3. Secretome Therapy
What Is Regenerative Medicine Used For?
Regenerative Medicine is fast advancing in the medical world. Due to its natural therapeutic abilities, scientist and researchers are exploring possibilities of using Regenerative Medicine to address a myriad of issues including the treatment of ocular, neurological degeneration and cardiovascular diseases as well as wounds, infertility, cancer and even the delay of aging.
What is Stem Cell Therapy?
Stem cells exist within the human body and are cells that work to renew, repair, regenerate and restore function. They can be found within our tissues such as the bone marrow, blood, fat and cord tissue in new-borns.
As we age, so do the stem cells in our body. CELLAAX Therapy uses Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC), derived from Wharton’s Jelly, found in umbilical cord tissues sourced through donors.

What is Cell-based Immunotherapy Therapy?
Cell-based immunotherapy involves the use of natural killer cells to treat diseases that compromises our immune system such as cancer.
Natural killer (NK) cells are the first responders in the immune system. They eliminate and control tumours, and microbial infections by limiting their spread and subsequent tissue damage. They also play pivotal functions in cancer immune surveillance by eliminating cancer or abnormal cells without harming the healthy cells.

What is Secretome Therapy?
Secretomes are protein signallers found in Mesenchymal Stem Cells. Their primary function is to optimise and trigger cell-to-cell signalling within our system to promote the cells function and healing benefits in patients. It helps to reduce inflammation and encourages to body to heal naturally.
The use of Secretomes is new in the field of Regenerative Medicine. Due to their biological functions, Secretomes are emerging in the field particularly in applications to the skin, such as treating wounds, rejuvenation (anti-aging) purposes, as well as joint pain management.

Will my insurance cover the cost of stem cell treatments?
Unfortunately, your insurance will not cover the cost of stem cell treatments. However, our team is sensitive to the financial needs of our patients, and not only do we offer extremely competitive prices, there are also many ways that we can help you raise money to receive treatment. After contacting us, we will help you consider these options and learn about how to make stem cell treatment a more viable option for you.
How long does the therapy last?
Each therapy is designed and suited to each patient on a case-to-case basis. The treatment itself can last between 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the administration.
How long does it take for the therapy to work?
Stem cell therapy is not a quick treatment. Most patients will not experience any changes during their time of treatment. We typically expect stem cells to reach their full potential around 3-6 months after treatment. That being said, it is not uncommon for patients to continue seeing results up to a full year after treatment.
Where are your stem cells from?
Stem cells are naturally occurring in the body and are responsible for creating all new cells that are damaged or destroyed. Specifically, they are made in the bone marrow.
CELLAAX Therapy uses allogeneic stem cells, which are stem cells derived from umbilical cords donated right after the birth of a healthy baby. We have stringent protocols and procedures and work closely with both public and private hospitals to ensure only healthy umbilical cords are delivered.
Mothers undergo a series of tests for all major diseases including hepatitis and HIV. Details on family history are also collected from each mother prior to donation.
This represents the first step of the screening process for donated umbilical cords. Women who have only been fully screened and found to be completely healthy are allowed to donate.

Stem cell treatment side effects?
There are no apparent harmful effects of stem cell therapy. Patients may experience some side effects upon receiving stem cell treatment, indicating that the stem cells are working.
A patient may experience minor symptoms such as headaches or nausea in the hours following the treatment. In the first 48 hours, patients may also experience symptoms in which the current symptoms flare up and seem worse than before.
This is usually a sign that the stem cells have found their target. Symptoms typically go away one or two days after appearing.
